Second camp out! Egg Harbour (Goose Green)

The Past Finders youth group drove to Egg Harbour on Saturday 8th February for their second camp out of the year!

Tony & Jenny Anderson kindly offered to come along for the day. Jenny talked to the group about her experiences as a young girl living at Egg Harbour and later, after they were married. Jenny told the kids about how she would milk around 14 cows every day, and would ride a horse to Darwin school (which would take around 2 1/2 hours and involved crossing a river) at the age of 8 years old!!

Tony talked about taming colts and demonstrated lassoing. Tony also showed the group all his old horse gear and told us how he was champion Jockey in 1964 at the age of 16 years (and still holds that record). Thank you so much Tony & Jenny for coming out to talk to the group.

That evening we had a BBQ and walked down to the fish wall with the fishing nets.

The group visited New House ruins, several turf corrals and measured them all. We also visited several ruins and Kelp Harbour stone corral .

Thank you to all the volunteers you are all amazing!!
