The historic heart of Stanley
with the military
I don't think we were very popular organising this event on the first day of the school holidays! However, I think we were pretty much forgiven by the end ... what absolute fun we all had! Sgt Simon Brister lead the group and started with some simple exercises to get us (children and adults alike) warmed up!
We were then split into two groups, alternating between two very different forms of team building exercises. The first - build a shelter using only a few basic items that included oars and fly sheet (not as easy as you might think!) The second consisted of various tasks - the more favourite being trying to get a ball into a tin ... again, not as easy as it sounds when each and every single member of the team has to get involved.
Once we finished all the tasks the group headed to the dining room where each had a ration pack waiting for them ... complete with Chefs waiting to cook them! We are not quite sure this is how it works in the field ...
After lunch, and with a bit of time to spare, we headed to the Memorial Wood for a few games in the sun.
A huge thank you to Flt Lt Nicola MacKay OC FDF, SGT Simon Brister, Hugh......and the Hillside chefs for organising such a fabulous event, the children are still talking about it, thank you once again.
