Yes. The Clio arrived at Port Louis in January 1833 where Captain Onslow informed the Argentines that the Islands belonged to His Majesty of Great Britain.  The Argentines protested, but in vain, as the British issued a letter of intention to ‘exercise the right of sovereignty over these islands’.  The British flag was hoisted and the Argentine flag struck.
