After being called up for active service in 1914, in order to evacuate Stanley when the Germans threatened attack, the Volunteers proved themselves an efficient unit.  In 1919 The Falkland Islands Corps stood down and in 1920 was reformed as the Falkland Islands Defence Force, keeping this title to the present day.
