Our organisation always has several projects underway - from small in-house matters to long-term plans that involve other organisations locally and overseas.
Our responsibilities are wide-ranging and our resources are minimal, which means that what we are severely restricted in what we are able to achieve. Not surprisingly, the nature of our work at the Museum means that all too often we are dealing with items or sites of considerable age and in a very poor condition.
While we would dearly love to be able to do more, unfortunately there is little hope of the M&NT being able to do anything to preserve many of the objects or sites that most need attention - such as the "Lady Elizabeth" or Bodie Creek Bridge. Such work would require an enormous amount of financing, both now and far into the future, and would also demand a level of specialist knowledge that we do not have in the Islands.
It would be wonderful to think that we might one day feature some large-scale developments on this site, but in the meantime, these are some of the smaller projects that we are working on...
