The M&NT's collection of photographs is extensive, but currently uncounted and unlisted.
We hold images dating from the late 1800s to modern times - ranging from family snapshots to professional images of Islanders and their lifestyles.
Staff at the Museum are currently building a database, so that specific images can be found more easily. When this is achieved, we hope to publicise the list on this website, thereby making the collection more accessible to members of the public.
At the moment, prints of images can be purchased by contacting the Museum.
Thanks to a generous donation by Mrs. Tim Simpson we were recently able to have our collection of glass plate negatives scanned by Mr. Norman Clark. These plates are now protected from any further handling and the images can be made better use of.
