This is the first year the Museum is offering internships to college and graduate students; benefit from this mutual relationship.

The Historic Dockyard Museum offers a limited number of internship opportunities that develop hands-on and practical experience.

Eligibility for an internship is for students currently enrolled at undergraduate or graduate level, as well as recent graduates.

The commitment required from interns is for a dedicated 6 week block placement.  Working hours are flexible and all positions are unpaid.

There are a range of benefits of being an intern at the Museum including:

  • Free admission to all Museum and National Trust sites
  • Learning opportunities from experienced professionals
  • The chance to see a project through from start to finish through working with the small staff team
  • Opportunity to visit the diverse habitats of the Islands
  • Experience island life

Available internships:

  • researcher and archivist
  • retail and marketing
  • carpentry and renovation
  • social architecture photographer

Application process:

  1. send a current CV or resume
  2. enclose a covering letter stating the current academic level, interest and experience related to the internship
  3. A transcript from the college/university
  4. Two references, one from the educational institution
  5. If required for academic credits, details of the relevant requirements/guidelines

  • In due course, an interview will be required of potential interns either in person or through video conference
