Inspired by the ‘Museums at Night’ festival in the UK, the Historic Dockyard Museum opened its doors to the public between 7pm and 10pm on Friday 19th August.
The evening was a huge success with visitors of all ages making their way around the museum buildings with the aid of torches – some taking part in a scavenger hunt type ativity where they had to locate objects dotted around the museum.
The idea of the evening was for the museum to showcase its treasures in a different way. Comments from the public included, "has that always been that colour?" and "I had never noticed that before!" proving that people focused on things that perhaps they had previously overlooked.
